The Silverton Community Swimming Pool is located
at 601 Miller Street. The pool is open to the public nearly all year
round. The pool was totally upgraded in 2001 with a pool cover that
has allowed the pool to be open through the winter. Pool facilities
include a slide, diving board, full ADA access, and a separate children's
pool.

Lifeguard Training
To be eligible for lifeguard training, you
must meet the following requirements:
Must be at least 15 years of age at the time the class finishes
Water pre-course: Swim a total of 300 yards, 100 free style (front
crawl), rhythmic breathing to the side or to the front or 100 yards
of breast stroke using pull or breaststroke or a combination
Timed event: Swim 20 yards, dive down, pick up a 10-pound brick,
and return to starting position with object, then exit water without
using ladder or steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds

like a fun, exciting, and rewarding job for the summer.
Class price is $130 for residents and $140
for non-residents. Classes are typically offered in the late fall and

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Certification
We will also be having Red Cross Water Safety
Instructor (WSI) certification courses, these typically offered in December
and early June. The price is $155 for residents and $165 for non-residents.
Requirements for WSI candidates are:
Must be 16 years old
Must be able to pass the pre-course swim
skills test which is equivalent of Red Cross Level 4 swimmer: front
crawl - 25 yards, back crawl - 25 yards, breaststrike - 15 yards,
butterfly - 15 yards, elementary back - 15 yards, sidestroke - 15
yards, dive from deck, front survival float, and back float 1 minute
Must be able to acquire the skills and knowledge
needed for instructing and evaluating all levels of swimming lessons
and water safety safety courses
